Miss Putt Putt had her baby at 3:30 Monday morning. I was lucky enough to be in the barn doing a check before leaving for work and I got to witness the birth. Sneeky sheep try to have babies when i'm not watching. He is a darling little boy that we are calling Neddy, after his father, who we recently lost. We had some initial trouble with the whole nursing/latching on thing, and he did get a bit droopy after trying so hard on his own. The kids and I were able to milk out about 20ml of Putt's colostrum into a bowl and we used a syringe to get it into his mouth. He perked up in about an hour and everyone got the whole nursing down pat. Putt Putt is being an excellent mother, very attentive with her licking and watching. Little Neddy was doing some bouncing around yesterday on his spindly legs, and was doing very well, as he didn't fall down once.
